East Berkshire College STEM Day

  • East Berkshire College SL3 8BY (map)

A day of hands on workshops where participants have the opportunity to try out STEM skills that differ from their programme of study or previous experience. Academic staff have teamed up with local employers to deliver interactive sessions exploring the Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths skills used within every subject area taught at the college.

Activities will include micro:Bit coding, CNC laser cutting, Digital 3D printing, Virtual Reality, carpentry, and chemical analysis; not to mention Maths tips & techniques sessions running throughout the day – perfect for anyone with a GCSE Maths exam coming up! Just some of the employers taking part will be Kier, Slough Urban Renewal, Mix up Reality, and Grundon.

Attendees will be able to book one of four slots throughout the day and participate in as many activities as they want, collecting participation stamps which will qualify them for a small gift and entry into a prize draw for a larger prize.

In depth careers advice will be available throughout the day and there will be an opportunity for attendees to register their interest for a series of work experience placements that will come available over the next 12 months.
